Christmas is now a worldwide celebration across all religions & cultures. 25th December is also a Christian celebration for the birth of Lord Jesus. Although both are on the same date, the enjoyment has taken over the religious aspect. For millions of people, Christmas is a synonym of festive times & to share gifts. Santa Claus although being unreal, is widely accepted & has now become a part of our lives. Why? Because it is a good opportunity to enjoy in the way you can afford & every year, the same organisations take place.
So, a mere belief in a person who doesn’t even exist, who creates so much frenzy & expenses, is stunning. And when we ask people to believe in God who is the Creator of All That Is, then there are often a lot of hesitations. Because there is no enjoyment in the celebration of the existence of God, no sharing of gifts, no sumptuous dinner, no Christmas holidays at a beach resort or ski station, etc. That is where the problem lies. Human beings are only seeking more & more pleasure- without paying attention to the fundamental parts of existence.
God promises his children happiness in his kingdom. The only difference is that the notion of happiness is not the same for human beings. They think the enjoyment of material life, possessions of objects, and the use of the body to derive all kinds of pleasures are the basis of life. This is a great illusion & also a monumental ignorance. God’s happiness means peace of mind, joy & lightness. That is the basic difference. Accumulation of materialistic desires will not give peace because as soon as you have enjoyed what you already possess, you will look for more!
The happiest person is passionate about what he already has & has no craving for more. When there is such a degree of personal satisfaction, then happiness will seep in. Otherwise, the flames of desires will continue to disturb the mind. But, when the mind is weak & uncontrolled, and cannot resist the relentless desires provoked by the material world through advertisements, marketing & new products, then there cannot be happiness. You are made to believe in a false sense of well-being just like the fantasy of Santa Claus.
And you are caught in that net of mundane life which dictates its rules on you. Everybody follows and does not analyse logically what is going on & if the choices are rational. The human race then perpetuates its own slow degradation by poor & careless choices, imposed by a modern society. The questions you should ask yourselves is “Who is responsible for your life? Who is responsible for Earth? How do I make smart decisions? How much of life I must follow & how much I must reject?”
Such questions will make you realise how easily you are being influenced by a society based on consumption & enjoyment. That is what we have made of life on Earth.
