The whole world came to a dead stop for several weeks in early 2020 when the coronavirus of COVID-19 had already spread in all countries. Anxiety was at its peak in the minds of billions of people. Both contamination & death were in the air and could strike at any moment due to a false manoeuvre, carelessness and bad luck. The greatest pressure was undoubtedly on all front-liners especially the medical staff of the whole world. Millions of people have lost their lives, thousands of people have been stranded in foreign countries without financial help, jobs have been lost, companies have closed, vaccinations were imposed, side-effects of vaccination still persist today, government unexpected expenses soared every month, diverging medical opinions on vaccination were on all media, confusion was at its highest level and despite all this, we had to carry on.
So, it apparently started in Wuhan, China. How exactly? Nobody knows & will probably never know as well. But what is sure is it started in Wuhan. Despite pressure by the super-power nations to authorise an investigation in Wuhan, China resisted vehemently. Being also a powerful nation economically and also military-wise, China stood up to the timid pressure of the world and of its international organisations. Two theories were related in the media, namely a laboratory incident and an animal infection. None has been proven. Over and above this, the fact remains that the impacts were typical of a bacterial genocide. The catastrophic nature of COVID-19 has been quite superficially handled by China. The minimum that would have been warranted in such a case is an apology to the whole world. Responsible & mature individuals apologise for both conscious & accidental errors. In this instance, nothing happened. It was business as usual after the lockdown was lifted.
The human consciousness is simply amazing both in a positive & negative sense. We are capable of the best & the worst. With loads of selfishness, we bring to the limelight only our best. This is a phenomenal human defect. Apologies on the part of China is in my opinion the first step to correct morally whatever occurred at Wuhan. But power, ego & unconsciousness do not allow for such a polite, responsible & civilised reaction. Yet we claim at the slightest opportunity that we are developed & modern. But we certainly lack wisdom & compassion- this cannot be denied. This brings us to the argument that power alone does not suffice to create a great political leader. Responsibility is equally required. Then the political leader shall be an effective leader. Intelligence is also a must, instead of relying on a host of advisors to Presidents & Prime Ministers.
The responsibility of China in the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be taken lightly. Power should not interfere with the proper application of worldwide justice. But manmade justice is weak & subject to a lot of abnormal influences. The administration of Earth is in the hands of a few political leaders and international committees who struggle to find unilateral agreement on all major concerns. The reason for this is that nation-wide selfish interests always supersede global interests. The consequences are a slow degradation of the quality of life on Earth. We have been used to tampering with of our natural environment and we will continue until nature teaches us a great lesson just like COVID-19; our modern powers are only a few drops in the infinite ocean of the Universe. There are greater forces than us working silently in the Universe and which will certainly act at the appropriate time to teach us the required lessons. The human race is small & powerless compared to the other unknown powers in the Universe. We have to become humble enough to accept this & stop bragging about our modernism.
We need to squarely face the current situation in which we are and start a planned change. Without change, we are doomed. Changes in our laws, systems and procedures are urgently needed to adapt to the new paradigms we have ourselves brought about. Many of our systems are completely out of phase with the pace of modernism & advancing technologies. We have forgotten to adapt our norms & ways. And this is a major concern. I will cite a single example: at what age do we allow a child to access the Internet & how to enforce that?
